Contemporary Design on Wooded Lot

Client:

A physician with a family who sought the seclusion & retreat that a natural setting can provide.

Program:

Design-Build

Type of Construction:
Wood frame, with stucco and stone exterior.
Critical Factor:

This unique home was nestled into the wood on the edge of a gorge. Therefore, structural piers built in to the rock wall were necessary so that every floor of the house could be exposed to water views.

Brentwood point of difference:

Several of the members of this family had a high intolerance to allergens. Brentwood designed this house, working to protect the family by choosing products and materials that were safe for them to live in and use.

This contemporary design was an excellent example of the client's need driving the design. Their desire to build in a natural setting dictated some unique work to accomplish the foundation. The desire for natural light resulted in 113 windows all on 4 levels of the home. The need for allergy free components lent itself to the contemporary style of the house. Lastly, some of the dimensional aspects of the unique design made interior layouts a challenge, so built in components in both the kitchen and the bedrooms provided interior design solutions. At over 6000 sq ft. on 4 floors, this home is a remarkable example of Brentwood's Design-Build flexibility.
